Cockroaches prefer warm, moist, food‑rich spots like kitchens and bathrooms and can spread allergens and pathogens as they scurry. German cockroaches hitchhike in grocery bags or used appliances, while American roaches often enter from sewers or exterior mulch. Gel baits placed close to hiding spots outperform “bomb” sprays, which merely scatter them deeper. Consistent sanitation—especially nightly crumb removal and fixing leaks—prevents re‑infestation.
